I went to IKEA yesterday and not only survived, but THRIVED!
I walked in w/ a set limit (around 50 bucks) and a list of things in my head to buy (glasses, a drying rack, etc) and walked out with only a couple of impulse purchases.
Mainly, this $17 chandelier. Plus 3 dollar cord and 7 dollar lightbulbs.
That I hung MYSELF yesterday.... which included a trip to Lowes, a discussion with 2 Lowes men, drilling a HOLE IN MY CEILING and using these special drywall screw thingies. (Joey, are you proud??)
It also included two large holes in my wall........ apparently one failure wasn't enough to convince me that I couldn't hammer a nail there. I had to try twice. Mom, don't tell Dad.
Also: a set of 7 little flower tins (now holding cotton balls, q-tips, nail polish, matches, etc) and a set of 12 wine glasses (not real wine glasses but the gal who owns Tino Vino gave us permission not to use wine glasses) and 6 shot glasses. I also bought a drying rack, but that would be a really boring picture. Even more boring than these two!
PS: I bought a Hannah Montana song yesterday ("See You Again"). Dear Lord. But I really like it! Don't deny it, I know you do too!!

I cannot believe you hung the chandelier all by yourself. I usually draw the line with electrical things...But, that's why you are a GOLD STAR/Black Diamond!!!
Also. I don't like that song enough to spend 99 cents on it!! However, I shamefully know that she is not Hannah Montana when she sings that song; she is Miley Cyrus. It's a HUGE difference, Sarah. Get it right.

I have to admit, everyone....... it is just a cord that I hung fron a hook in the ceiling (I installed the hook!) and tacked the cord along the ceiling and down a wall to an electric outlet..... I just took the picture from the angle that DOES NOT show the holes in the drywall. Sigh.

I am impresed you hung this yourself and it is very nice also. I haven't made it out to the new Ikea but I want o soon. Love all of the things you got.
Alas, I have never actually seen an Ikea for myself but I do have several of their products. I can't seem to get it through my head that they have awesome home decor AND yummy food. It sounds too good to be true. I have a dream....
