Randomness

So I'm heading out today for St. Louis, and then moving on to Dothan Alabama... very exciting. I haven't been on the road lately, so I haven't been looking forward to this, but I'm sure it will be fine once I get back in the swing of things... I think I'm mostly annoyed because I have to leave on a Sunday afternoon (because of my change in schedule last week), and I hate doing that. Plus I have 2 stops in Atlanta and I. HATE. THE. ATLANTA. AIRPORT.

No, go ahead... ask me how I really feel about it.

My friend Kara made a cake last week and brought it over to my house.... (reason #895 why she is a GOLDSTAR and I love her):

Kara: I made this cake, but it tastes a little different this time... I had to use semi-sweet chocolate because I couldn't find a German chocolate bar.
Sarah: ....... what's the difference?
Kara: I don't know. I think maybe German chocolate is really bitter...... like the Germans.

FYI: What is German Chocolate?

Also, she would like me to add this disclaimer for all the GERMANS out there: KARA IS OF GERMAN DESCENT HERSELF, DON'T BE OFFENDED GERMANS.

Reason # 438 why LAURA is a GOLDSTAR and I love HER: she bought me The Notebook for Valentine's Day! I had never seen it (I've read the book a million times though) and it was SO good. I cried through the entire last 45 minutes. It was a good time.

Other notable events from the past week include a very fun date who cooked an amazing dinner for me at my house..... during which we managed to set off every fire alarm... IN THE BUILDING. I got a phone call from an upstairs neighbor, asking me if everything was okay - everyone in the building had congregated in the hallway upstairs, wondering who was burning the building down.... whoops!! Yes, combined with me setting off their smoke alarms and my unfortunate daily habit of accidentally hitting the panic alarm button on my car keys... my neighbors love me.

The most important two things from this date were: 1) I had an awesome time and 2) I LOVE BRUSSEL SPROUTS! Oh my gosh! I had never had them before and I'm not going to lie, I was SERIOUSLY DOUBTFUL that I would be able to choke those suckers down (Hi Nick, yeah, sorry, it's true, but, obviously you knew this due to my inability to keep a poker face... and the fact that I said, "EWWWWWwwwwww" when you pulled them out of the bag), but, surprise surprise, they were awesome. Seriously. They are my new favorite food.

Even though they look like revolting little green alien brains. No, they really do. Click on this link to see the proof: BRUSSEL SPROUTS = ALIEN BRAINS.

I also dropped a knife on my toe, but it was ok, no blood.

THE END.

Also, I love Jason Mraz.

Um, I'm almost certain that there is no such thing as german chocolate. German chocolate cake is a style of cake, mostly distinguished by the coconut icing on top (I verified this with Chef Evan).

I'm not sure I like brussel sprouts either. Maybe I should give them a shot. :o)

I just looked on the cake link in your post. Maybe the Baker's German Chocolate has more cocoa in it?

A date! How exciting! But a date with brussel sprouts? Sounds kind of kinky.

Oh Sarah. I LOVE your 'randomness' posts! You make me laugh so much. And I'll have to try those little alien brian-looking, stinky-feet smelling wacko excuses for vegetables one day.

Or maybe not.

But the best thing? Your super hot awesome DATE! Go you! (and Nick, you take are of this girly, she's a gooder!!!)

Love you, Sarah!

um, I can't type. But that's not new to y'all. I meant to say "take *C*are"

Sheesh.

you guys make me laugh, from ang's intense interest in finding the true answer to what the heck german chocolate actually is to carrie's insane comment, haha, to hillary's TYPICAL CANADIAN SPELLING.... just kidding Hils!!! :)

I so love this post. You are hilarious. You are such a jet setter!!! Since your promotion has a week gone by when you haven't gone on a trip? Seriously! You're everywhere. How fun.

Good for you for eating-and enjoying-BS. HA. What a fun abreviation. I made them ONCE and must not have made them the way Nick made them. They were disgusting. Recipe maybe? And while I'm making requests, do you think you could add more friend surveys. I thoroughly enjoyed them. :)

AHH. AND I forgot to say. The Notebook. Is that not the BEST movie? Oh, my heart. I LOVE that movie. You are so good for reading the book first. I too cried forever during the movie. I LOVE it!!!!

I have only had brussel sprouts once. And yes, they were suprisingly good! How did you prepare them?

On side notes, thank you SO much for the link in the comments on my post! What a great link! I am going to make sure that Jason reads it too. Perfect for what we are going through. We also had to watch church on Sunday since it was freezing rain - a great sermon on the same note - how we are being grown in our character during trials. Thank you again for sharing something that God placed on your heart to share.

And, I must tell you again (I am pretty sure I have randomly commented to tell you before :-) that I have gone through SEVERAL banana bread recipes and I make YOURS at least twice a month! Oatmeal in banana bread = yummy! I might just have to post the recipe, giving you props of course, soon with the 2 ingredients that I add: vanilla and applesauce.

Okay, sorry to dominate the comments section with so much randomness!

Amber, you are too sweet. Brussel sprouts... I ate a couple just boiled with some salt and loved them... I'll have to find out the real recipe & email it to you & Audiloo both, it was really good.

Jason Mraz. He's the man. For real. And what did he DO to the brussel sprouts to make them so delicious, because the last time *I* had them? Not delicious. At all. :)

I just realized that it sounded like Jason Mraz was making the Brussel Sprouts in my last comment.

I of course, know that Jason Mraz was not cooking at your apartment.

Which I know because: a) you would be a dead woman for having Jason Mraz in your apartment and not inviting me over.
b) you already said the man in question cooking the brussel sprouts was named nick.

I just wanted to state for the fact that I knew it wasn't Jason Mraz. And make myself look like a bigger idiot with this comment.

JenDay... you are correct, if Jason Mraz were cooking at my condo, you would be invited, along with every other girl I know. To gawk and stare and drool. I know. AND YOU ARE NOT AN IDIOT. I am excited to see you on Friday!!! YAY!!

SARAH!!! NOOOOO!!!! Brussel sprouts are from the DEVIL. (Sorry Nick-- I am not saying that you ARE... just that they are the SPAWN of Bealzebub himself.) I can make them taste OK though. OH and go ahead.... ask me how I set off the smoke detector at 7 am this morning!

Nick said...

WOW!!! Note to self... "Brussel sprouts get great response for dinner date... one up for Nick!"

I AM SERIOUSLY OFFENDED THAT ABSOLUTELY NOBODY cared enough to mention THE KNIFE THAT FELL ON MY TOE and instead focused TOTALLY ON BRUSSEL SPROUTS. seriously people. i care about YOUR toes.

(well, i don't, but, if you brought it up, i would fake some sympathy, SHEESH)

oh, well, sorry to say that i'm here to talk about brussel sprouts, and not the knife on your toe.. because the former fills me with good feelings and the latter.. with convulsing cringes! i just have to say that brussel sprouts are one of my faves... we have them as part of christmas celebrations every year.. we steam them, and then stir fry them with butter, lemon juice and capers, and they're abbbbbsolutely delish.
